"A few days later, we had a very nice dinner at Pinnacle Grill, where, during booking, I asked the reservation agent three times if the dining credits covered the restaurant.Trip Overall - 7 / 10

1-10 of 109 Holland America Line Holland America Rotterdam Cruise Reviews
My family of four including 2 kids, age 11 and 7, sailed on Rotterdam for 9 days in February 2024 and had a wonderful time! This is our 3rd HAL cruise and they continue to impress. The crew on board Rotterdam is fantastic! I'm so impressed with how hard they work and their ability to remember all of our names by the end of the 1st day of the cruise. HAL still does housekeeping twice a day which I ...
We had a very nice 9 day Southern Caribbean cruise that visited Aruba and Curaçao. We missed our stop on Half Moon Cay due to the weather. We booked Club Orange and a Retreat Cabana in advance, both enhanced our experience greatly as the ship sailed full. We tried to dine in all of the specialty restaurants except the Pinnacle Grill which we’ve dined in many times on other ships. We really ...
Easiest embarking ever. We were on board by 11:30 am sitting at the Lido having lunch. Disembark was super quick and easy thanks to the face scanning technology at the Ft Lauderdale cruise port.
This was our 7th cruise on an HAL ship, out of 57 total cruises ( other lines mostly Celebrity, RCL, Oceania).
Food varied from being poor to fair in the Lido, Deck 9, to very good in the Main ...
I am an avid cruiser. I cruised Holland in 2007. After this sailing, I felt that it was for an older crowd and I wanted to go on cruises that were for families. Since then, I sailed with Norwegian, Princess Royal and Carnival.
The crew on the Rotterdam were very friendly and accommodating.
The food was very good.(we enjoyed the lido, dive in and the New York deli)
The music clubs were ...
Embarkation:
We chose to leave our car at “Park and Go” and it was a great decision. Quick and easy transit to the ship and a very short line and short wait to get on board.
Ship’s Overall Appearance:
No complaints, but not quite as “elegant” as the HAL ships of 25 years ago. Not a lot of “glitz” which to us was a good thing. Adult oriented with no water slides or kids parks.
Our ...
This is my 12th cruise and was excited to cruise Holland America as we had heard and read positive things.
Ship: Average decor. The ship interior is very dark except in the crows nest.
Cabin was nice with plenty of storage. Cabin stewards were excellent.
I don't know much about stabilization, but this ship had a lot of movement. At night it felt like someone was jumping on the bed ...
We have done 61 cruises including this back to back on the Rotterdam. We have sailed on various cruise lines, it has been 10 years since we sailed on HAL.
The Rotterdam is larger than what we like but booked a suite to enjoy the small Club Orange dining room. And the extras.
Our good experiences:
Embarkment total chaos but we were on board at 11:30a.m.
The Lido was fine for lunch on ...
We chose the Rotterdam 7 looking for a relaxing explore of the Caribbean! Here’s some information I think is valuable for others!
Cons:
- This ship seems more rocky than most. I was sea sick and lots of others including the crew were too! They can’t control the weather, but the Rotterdam seems a bit more rocky in winds than other boats.
- The Ft Lauderdale cruise port is a mess. Will ...
Dining: The Pinnacle Grill was amazing but books up quickly. The dining room and Lido buffet have very good food but lack variety. Early dining was at 5 PM which is a bit too early IMO. The service at both the dining room and buffet was excellent. Drinks served in the dining room were half the size of drinks served at bars. Dining room etiquette was not enforced, and we had to watch people in ...
This was our first Pinnacle class ship and we were thoroughly impressed with most every aspect of the ship. For this cruise it was myself and DW along with my 81 year old Mom who sailed in a solo cabin.
Embarkation:
A very quick embarkation as Mom needed wheelchair assistance. We were speedily taken to a separate table where the necessities were taken care of and then escorted upstairs at ...
