The Disney Wish is beautiful. The artwork, decor and styling was typical Disney to set a theme. Took a tour of the ship to appreciate the details they included. If you have children who enjoy Disney characters and movies, they would love the number of character meet and greets and separate areas just for kids. As to adults, the ship has challenges. They have multiple bars tucked in various corners that do not have large seating. They are also difficult to find. You really need the map on the app they provide. Activities during the day are limited for adults and the few alcohol and wine tastings had a limited number so they filled up quickly. 

The food is a major challenge as each dining was very cramped. In 1923 the space between the back of my chair and the next table was so close, that waiters rushing bumped into my chair every 5 minutes making it uncomfortable. In the Marvel dining room, they served our table so late that they gave us the dessert menu when we received the entrees. The Spider-Man character whisked by our table since we were still eating. We had the first dinner seating. Character interaction was minimal at other tables. Arendelle dining room was so packed that seeing the stage in the center was difficult especially the characters had to constantly swirl around to face each section of the audience. It was not well thought out and appeared chaotic for the poor servers. Menu was hit and miss with lots of misses. You had no option but to go to your assigned dining since no other dining was open from 6 PM to 10 PM other than room service. We did not care to go to pirates night as the menu was un-inspired. We ate early at the Cantina and pizza location by the pool before it closed at 6 PM. The tacos were delicious. Marceline had  a nice buffet but again the walkway was too small as people were waiting for food and walking both directions so constantly bumping into each other. It did have plenty of seating, even on sea days.

Entertainment was well done in the evening and typical Disney but there were limited musical venues otherwise. The Bayou was a pretty bar in the middle of two walkways so people talking in the walkways was distracting and again limited seating.

The cabins were nice. We had a balcony which had lots of storage and a comfortable bed. They had a split bathroom which was nice if you shared a room with multiple people but each had limited floor space.

Staff was wonderful and could not be nicer and more helpful. They were constantly cleaning the public areas. Pools were more like big hot tubs at various locations. The adult pool was so small and they should have made it bigger. The adult section, the Cove, was the only place that was not cleaned well with food on the floor. They have a major design flaw with the tube of the AquaMouse running over the quiet adult hot tub, so all you heard was screams - not quiet! The AquaMouse was fun if you were able to get on when the line was shorter.

This is our second Disney Cruise, Magic was our first, both disappointed us for food and menus. We have taken at least 10 other cruises and Disney rates as our least favorite food.

Not a cruise for adults only

No other large cruise line comes close to the excellence of disney cruise line. Period. I've sailed in the others and no other large cruise line comes close to disney cruise line overall. 

Anyone who tells you otherwise, wants a casino, a "deal", more booze or could care less about the finer things in life.

The service, cuisine, crew, service, cabin and entertainment are the best at sea! The wish really elevates the disney cruise line cuisine and food quality to a pinnacle. Every single restaurant and food venue served amazing choices, great quality and spectacular presentation on the plate. A huge thank you to the chef(s) behind his stellar effort.

The cabin was large, comfortable, and besides an insanly placed phone in the shelf that made it unusable, is the best standard balcony cabin on a ship this size.

There are a few truly horrible design errors however with disney wish; the first monumental design flaw is the lack of a continuous promenade deck! You can't go for a walk around the ship!!!! What moron made this mistake? It is so bad that it could prevent us from sailing again on wish. The second mistake is a painfully small adult pool and deck area that is polluted by an adjacent smoking area that wafts smoke to the pool and deck! This is absurd!

There is also a lack of quality finish material and details found on their four previous ships. Wood, tiles mosaics and painted murals have been replaced with decals, formica, and plastic. Also, much lower ceilings and narrower hall walls than the other ships. 

Now, for the live entertainment - it is the best at sea. Truly spectacular! Hats off to the cast, creatives and crew who have elevated live entertainment to a broadway caliber (and above). Wow!

Regarding the spa - i have no idea why disney gives this away to a third party to run! The spa was out of necessities, the spa was cold, windowless, and a huge miss. Disney should take this over asap - it is not special or top notch, also, i don't think promising guests to "lose 40% of their fat in 4 days" is ethical or upfront. Shame on this spa team. 

So, would we set sail again on wish... Maybe, but the promenade and awful adult pool and deck area is a huge setback compared to the other 4 disney ships. Almost perfect , isn't - but it's close.

ALMOST a Perfect Wish

I still agree with most of it. There was a change made for the better - the elevator controls have been switched to standard press buttons! I think this made a huge improvement in the wait times at the elevators. 

The cast and crew on the ship were absolutely amazing. I saw several of the same people working. Everyone, from the dining staff to the entertainment and our stateroom attendant were top notch. They are a big reason I cruise with Disney. 

Palo is one of my favorite Disney restaurants and not to be missed! We did a special wine pairing event called Prima Notte at Palo and it was very fun.

I think Arendelle is the best included restaurant on the ship. The entertainment, theme, detail, and food are fantastic. You do need to like hearing music from Frozen, of course.

Fun, But Not the Best Disney Ship

Me and my husband had the best first cruise onboard the Disney wish. From the food service to the entertainment and the wonderful crew members. 

On our first day onboard we met Delzi ,a performer from the show Aladdin and little mermaid and he was the most kind and helpful with us figuring out our first experience! Not to mention how fabulous he was in the musical shows in the theatre. Such an incredible talent and kind soul! 

The food service at Palo was exceptional and the dining staff were all so lovely. 

Our stateroom was well arranged and the towel animals were always my favorite. 

The attention to detail on this ship is so stellar. 

Would definitely cruise again.

I highly recommend trying the foods at all the restaurants and watching the live entertainment. We did not get off in but castaway cay was a lovely part of the trip as well

Beautiful ship Great entertainment and service overall

I am new to cruising so please take my review into consideration. It was something my significant other wanted as she is Gold and enjoys the Disney Cruise. Its total cost of the day makes me wonder if this is just for Disney fans, cause as someone who enjoys luxury it was a little costly. They make you drink the koolaide. They give you everything to be happy and in abundance.  You get service that I feel is excellent. 

They kiss your rear end to no end, I have a dairy allergy and people went out of their way to accommodate me. If Disney could better label their menus to list ingredients somehow that is more visual persons with allergies (nut, dairy, etc.) can determine what they want to avoid or ask if they can make it for you without milk (They will help you if it's possible). They don't want a problem. The food is good quality nothing cheap here. Even though the Marvel Restaurant Menu needs some updating (you can order from 1923 or Arrendales  Menu (which are excellent menus.) The Star Wars-themed Bar, Tianas Place, Enchante, and Palo are very nice. 

I think the biggest thing people experience with Disney is enjoyment. The guests are great also. I mean you have a group of people who are nice all the time. I mean I felt safe, secure, and willing to leave my personal effects somewhere and no fear or thought of malice (this is my utopia feeling I only get with Disney). Disney is safe. I feel like I am in a very good situation at their resort and cruises. I have had strangers giving me back my wallet of cash at the park. 

 I wish there were more adult fun - there were fitness areas, and we got the spa pass it was worth it at $179 per person. You get first-run movies on the ship in Neverland Theatre, Walt Disney Theater, and other spaces. The pool deck has great movies for most of the day. Concierge Floor 13 and Level 14 got the good adult stuff. You need to explore those areas we didn't cause I allowed my significant other to dictate the schedule cause she is Gold and an old pro.

The staterooms are nice and well-appointed. We had a veranda mid ship which is a great location, easy access to everything. Veranda was private. You could hear and if you tried you could see your neighbor and converse with them even open it up.  

When you debark to a destination they are easy you have to have your world card which is necessary to have when you leave the ship. Magic Bands are an easier way to get around the ship but won't help you get on and off the ship. They are very honest about Nassau and what to watch for. They will suggest very safe areas and tell you to avoid the bad ones. 

The ship was well-built. The elevators are very narrow it says it holds 20 people but if more than 8 get its tight. Plus with wheelchairs, scooters, and strollers, you can imagine how quickly elevators spill. There are some major times to learn patience as your dinners are 5:15/6:30 and 8:15/10P those two times are bad cause people are going to dinner and coming out of dinner and also heading to activities. If you can't climb stairs eat slower and wait until 15 minutes after those times to head to elevators.

Overall this is for the young and young at heart. No casinos, just bingo. Lots of good alcohol and wine available. Have to go pool deck to get drinks 24/7 if you want something to drink. Room Service is good 20-30 minutes of delivery on American style (vegan options) and good liquor/wine menu.

Great Service for a family friendly vacation

Took my 8 year old granddaughter on this cruise and she was so excited about it being Disney.  We were led to believe that there would be characters to interact with and it would be magical for all ages.  First of all if you wanted to see a character it was at scheduled times and you had to get in line and wait sometimes up to 2 hours to get your picture with the character.  We were in a very short line for Chip and Dale and there was no family behind us and a crew member said (after we were in line) that he was cutting the line off at the family in front of us!  Again, there was NO family behind us!  He was adamant and we were told to leave.  There were no characters roaming the ship that you could see, only prescribed times.  In the Marvel dining hall at the end of dinner Spiderman came in but starting visiting the tables in the front and we were in the very, very back by the kitchen.  It would have been at least 45 minutes before he would have made it back to us.  We couldn't wait as we had late dining and that was the night we had to have our suitcases in the hall by 10:30 p.m.  At the time Spiderman came into the dining hall, it was already 10 p.m.  As we walked out to head back to our stateroom we were up close to Spiderman and were told that if we were leaving the dining hall we could not get a picture of Spiderman or take pictures.  Again there was no flexibility.

My granddaughter is shy and we went to the kids club and they wouldn't let me back with her for the open house to give her a glimpse of it so she would feel more comfortable. Again, no flexibility. 

This was a Merrytime cruise with Christmas decorations but they were very boring for families.  Gold trees with white lights, no ornaments or traditional Christmas colors. Elegant but not very eye catching. On a positive note, the Aquamouse water slide was awesome!  We had two days at sea as the weather did not permit us going to Castaway Cay. Most of the activities we tried to attend were for older kids.  

You had to use the Disney Navigator app for EVERYTHING and there were several times when it was inaccurate and you missed an event by 30 minutes.  It was also annoying to have to constantly look at your phone to see what's going on.

The restaurant food was good but the Marceline cafe was mediocre. For the money you are better off staying at a resort in the Bahamas where you have access to pools, beach, snorkeling, etc for 4 full days instead of the ship. Oh and when they say "shows" they are Disney movies that you can watch from home.

Big Disappointment

This was our 11th Disney cruise and first on the Wish, and it will be our last.  The ship's design is so awkward with smaller general areas and more crowding when people gather.  The elevator situation was horrendous with only fore and aft elevators and only 2 elevators which went all the way up to Decks 12&13.  Too many stairs for my mobility impaired husband and the only option was to take elevators.  Can't walk from the front of the ship to the back as each deck dead-ends with no staircases in site to be able to navigate around.  Restaurants are CROWDED with lots of tables smashed against each other and we declined dinner one night in 1923 as my husband refused to "scooch" around chairs and people while trying to walk with his cane.  Arendelle restaurant was just OK, because we really don't prefer a dinner show.  Marceline Market buffet, same situation with narrow walkways trying to push too many people through and open tables very difficult to find.  

Theming was beautiful but did not mitigate the cons mentioned above.The themed lounges on the Wish did not really peak our interest and the specialty drinks were over priced.  Adults only area was poorly designed and not conducive to spending a lot of time there.  Not enough lounge chairs in the shade.  

Crew members were the only saving grace on this voyage and our servers were fabulous.  If you want to take a Disney cruise, I suggest the original ships which are far superior in design to the Wish.  

I echo another cruisers review of the movie theatres; the seats were odd and very low to the ground, but I did enjoy seeing 2 older Disney movies that I had not seen yet.  

Given that you pay a premium for Disney, I believe that we will spend our cruise dollars elsewhere.

Disappointing!

I am an avid cruiser, this makes my 30th cruise overall and have sailed the 4 major lines with 6 on Disney Cruise line. All I can say is when we stepped on the Wish my Cousin and our adult girls were amazed a how stunning that lobby is. The crew all so welcoming. We had a Deluxe Oceanview stateroom on Deck 9. (that is the only thing I would change) We should have gotten 2 staterooms with our 20 year old girls. Love the split bathrooms, but the beds are made more for little ones and so my daughter would have been happier and more comfortable with our own room. We made it work for 3 nights and the room is beautiful and lots of storage space. The welcome buffet was better than any I had in a long time. We had crab legs and giant shrimp and I loved the dumplings and jasmine rice too, Perfect kick off to our cruise. We so enjoyed Halloween on the High Seas! We had so much fun attending the Halloween activities in the lobby and the Oogie Boogie bash! We got to watch Haunted Mansion in the Theater and that was so fun. The Pirate night was a hoot! We all had a a fun time on the pool deck and loved the fireworks and stage performances. Jack Sparrow the highlight of course. Watch from Deck 12 Starboard- get there about 20 min early. Great spot for the show and fireworks. We managed to get to the Hyperspace lounge for some really cool drinks, visited the Bayou bar for beignets and a really nice lager. We did a Martini tasting at Nightingales and it was fabulous and the drinks so pretty. So much great information, totally worth the cost. We had 5:45 dining and kind of early ,but still worked for us and all the restaurants were really nice and our servers were amazing each and every evening! Over the top great service and all the food was wonderful at our dinners, we had no complaints at all. The presentations were awesome. We looked forward to dinner each evening. We visited the Pirate Brewery in Nassau and it was just a few steps from port and so cool. The brews were great and had wonderful WIFI too. Castaway Cay we went straight to Serenity and it was heaven! The water stunning and lunch was really good. So colorful and the fruit amazing. We had a server take care of us even though we were way down the beach. That island is heaven for sure. I can't say one bad thing about the cruise on the Wish. I do see that some decks are harder to navigate, but never really an issue for us. The least of my worries. The adult area a bit small, but I would go up early and it was nice. Mimosas only $6! That is crazy, Drink prices really reasonable on Disney compared to other cruise lines. Drink of the day $6.50. My cousins suitcase come to the room missing a wheel and they give her a new bag. Guest Service was so accommodating and wonderful to us. They even gave her a Castaway Club shoulder bag since we only got one tote for the stateroom. How this ship has so much negativity is beyond me?? Our ship was full and some areas would have lines if you went at busy times, but overall we had no waits for anything and we loved our stateroom attendant and our servers. The elevators could get pretty packed at times, but I take the stairs instead a lot of times.  Stuff like that does not bother me if everything else is so good!! It was the best time!! Can't wait to sail Disney again. Eat a Banana ice cream cone and get some fries on deck 11- hot and crispy!! Go lay on the lobby floor at midnight and see the Kiss good night, you won't regret it! "Magical in deed" So much going on, but try and just take it all in! We loved every minute of it!

The Disney Wish was in deed "Magical"

This was a first Disney cruise experience for our family. We showed up with unrivaled excitement and it was not spoiled. The ship was spectacular with Mickey details from bow to tail. We had a veranda room and the floor plan was great for a family of 5 (mom, dad, and 3 littles - 7, 7, and 5). We really liked the drop down bunk bed and Murphy bed for the kids. The berthing was incredibly quite at night and we could hardly hear any noise outside when resting during the day. The bathroom (1 shower+sink & 1 toilet+sink) were very spacious, clean, and had ample storage space for toiletries. The service everywhere on the ship was fantastic. I can’t say enough about the personal touch every cast member gave us. The Aqua Mickey was a highlight on the pool deck. It was fun and entertaining for the whole family. The line was long pretty much all times at sea so we opted to stay onboard the first day in port in order to do the slide a few times. This was a Halloween themed cruise and the character costumes at meet and greets were on point. Lines were long but after figuring out the schedules of the appearances using the Disney Cruise app we were able to meet almost all of our favorites without spending the entire trip in lines. The Oceaneer Club for our kids was probably the best part of the cruise. 

Some of the lows: Adults!!!! There were way too many ruthless adult Disney fans on this cruise. We showed up for the parties well before the start (10-15 minutes) of each and our kids were blocked from viewing the stages and performance or couldn’t enjoy the character shows because adults were blocking them. Parents or not, the adult fans seemed oblivious to the fact that they were standing in front of crowds of children, including my kids, who could not see what was happening on stage. This obviously didn’t ruin the trip but was very frustrating as it would be entirely feasible for the cast members to create a kids zone in front of the stages where only children are allowed so they can enjoy the shows. It was very difficult to get a royal gathering reservation. We were able to get our daughter scheduled for paid Bipidi Bopidi Boutique session and only got the opportunity to meet one princess. Drink refill stations were manned by cast members at only 2-3 points on the entire ship. This made getting fresh water and coffee an inconvenience and at one point I was even pushed out of line while trying to get more than one water bottle refilled.

The Disney experience at sea with everything all at once

We chose this ship because our grandkids wanted to do the new Wish.  We also enjoy sailing the newer ships so we didn't hesitate. The very cartoonish decor was not our cup of tea but whatever, it's all about the kids anyway.  Having been on the Dream before we were amazed to find crowd flow problems.  The buffet was so closed in you couldn't hardly move due to narrow pathways.  The same applied to the main lobby especially on disembarkation day.  They assigned a 7:45 and a 8:30 seating for breakfast at the lobby restaurant 1923 where two competing lines of people jammed up traffic flow that it was chaos.  The worst people management I've ever seen. The chairs in the restaurants were so close sometimes you had to move your chair just to let someone by.  The Dream was nothing like this and it made an expensive cruise experience missing the mark.  Crew was excellent, food was good, room was comfortable and shows were typical Disney quality.  I was expecting better from a company that knows how to manage space and people.  We would not sail on this class again as we much preferred the older ship.
