Pleasant cruise on older well maintained ship.

The spa was the best part of this historic  boat. Go to the spa and ask for Ivy to give you a massage. Very Good service in the spa. I would recommend buying a spa package as soon as you get on board. 

The staff were very friendly aas well all over the boat. And the rooms were clean. The entertainment was not good. The singers were out of tune. They did have a good tango entertainment  night. And the food was not good either. The food was bland and alot of left overs. The royal app did not tell you what your reservation was, the account information was incorrect, the app was slow and the time for events were incorrect. We booked massage on cruise and did not show up in planner. Lastly, the excursions were good for the most part. But the driver was risking our lives to get back to the boat on time.

Ivy at the spa

Like smaller ships, less people, less fighting for seats, bartenders, etc. But you could tell the ship is getting old. Still worth a sail if you like the itinerary but would like to see newer, smaller ships come online because I wont sail on the 7000 passenger, costs an arm and a leg behemoths they are putting in service. Less amenities for sure but I do not sail to be running around all day. 

Love the online embarkation. RCCL still lets you watch the videos on your phone while in waiting room and go direct to muster station and done. Simple, quick. Especially for repeat customers that have been through the old musters of ago with the cluster of bodies and having to wait on stragglers. Never go back to the old way.

Food is standard fare. Good and bad but I never went hungry. Windjammer only got crowded on port days before gangway opened. 

Interior cabin bathrooms are so small. Did not expect much and that is what I got. Shower curtain was useless and the shower was as small as a coffin. Angled toilet makes you a contortionist, or tries to. 

Overall, was a good trip, what little staff they had tried but I can see this being my last trip on the Grandeur.

Feels its age

We were on the 9 Night Southern Caribbean Holiday Grandeur Of The Seas Dec 2023 cruise. We had a cabin with Spacious Ocean View Balcony. The cabin was good and spacious but the balcony was not spacious at all. The boat was clean and easy to navigate. All the crew were nice and helpful. Our housekeeper (Rolly) was fantastic. The food was delicious everywhere and the service was good. The shows were of an average standard. However… The internet was the worst possible. It costs very expensive. Loses connection very often. It was very difficult to use. 

The towels history: We returned the pool towels to the lifeguard station. The person there wrote down cabin number and the number of returned towels, but we see fee for the returned towels on our finally statement. This is very wrong.

Do I recommend this cruise? Yes for good food, nice crew and the ports we visited. No, because the Internet is unacceptable. No, because there is a problem with the final statement.

Everyone must choose what is important to him or her. But if you pay a lot of money, everything should be good.

Rooms: old, dirty and smelly 

I have been an almost 10 different royal ship and this is realiteit the worst of all. 

Royal lost its Royal status years ago  by going cheaper and reducing costs and after 15 cruise I have decided to switch and   this will be my last one with Royal carrebean. 

Spending more then 10000 e for this cruise to get this kind of service and food is really a rip off.

When a company only wants quantity instead of quality you get this shit

Bars can’t  handle so much  guests so they are always unfriendly  because of the pressure

Grandeur lost its grandeur 

Royal should indeed pack up this boat. It was filthy stains everywhere that were unsettling for the amount of money they charge. The customer service was awful. I paid for a cupcake decorating class that was advertised as a culinary experience that had us making children fogs, I was beyond upset that I spent almost $40 for a falsely advertised decorating class.  When I asked for a refund they refused to give me back my money and said they didn’t have the power to give refunds. The food was mediocre and bland at best. The Managment in the windjammer, great gasby, and many bars were all very rude, and talking badly about the guest. They even made a sign to tell guest we couldnt take food out of the windjammer, they’d rush us from eating our food and try to kick us out of the wind jammer.

 Many of the guest were rude and racist as well even resulting to pushing and yelling on the last date of departure  they referred to us as “you people” and let out all types of micro aggressions towards black people. I’ve been on other cruises before but this by far has been the worst as far as the upkeep of the ship and the customer service of the staff. I paid for steaming services and they ruined a few of my belongings. The cabins smelled like sewage the water smelled so bad I had to stop brushing my teeth with it because I started to taste it. My skin was itching and irritated due to the water in the shower as well. They definitely overcharged and a refund would be greatly appreciated.

Dirty ship and dusty service. 

I chose this cruise to enjoy time with my family and gain new experiences in being on a cruise to different lands, while witnessing different cultures.

This being my first time on a cruise, I was excited to join with the Royal Caribbean team and its "Grandeur of the Seas". Unfortunately, by the end of the trip, I was sorely disappointed with the whole experience and am now uncertain that I would like to join another cruise, specifically with this cruise line.

When ordering room service, the workers at the other end of the phone were rude and impatient. On multiple occasions the wrong order was brought to our room, and even forgotten. I understand the crew was busy with the large amount of customers. I could even forget a bad encounter if it happened once or twice, but this occurred too frequently to overlook. 

The restrooms did not always flush properly and barely worked either. The "new" towels and bedding that were brought to our room did not seem all that clean either, both of which contained stains on them.

While on board, many of my relatives were singled out by employees of the ship to deliver complaints when we gathered together, all of which turned out to be lies.

My family and I never sought to cause any problems. We kept to ourselves, stayed out ofnthe way, and were mostly quiet, yet we were regularly approached by other cruise members to enquire why we were there. 

At one point, I was asked if we were a football team when I gathered together with other of my male relatives, as if the only reason a group of black men could be together was if we played a sport. When we responded that this was not the case, the cruise member would laugh in our face and would then be seen speaking with security, who would later bring a complaint to us about our behavior from another cruise member. Mind you, we stayed to ourselves and were not loud or intrusive, especially in comparison with the sounds of the various activities and other members on board. This happened on more than one occasion. It got to the point where I did not feel comfortable being out of my room by myself due to possible unwanted attention.

The "Grandiose" Grandeur

This ship needs to hire new staff the people was rude and the cooking wasn’t good. Going on a cruise for 10/11 days is supposed to be a great experience and it wasn’t the staff was extremely rude and aggressive their was a few staff that was nice such as the young caribbean male musician and the caribbean male bartender aside from that the people was rude and did not provide good customer service. The food had no flavor and was always undercooked and every time you was trying to sit down and eat people was constantly demanding you to leave your table and rush you to finish your food. They offered a bad variety of teas and hide any mint teas when they had never offered ginger tea as served us old and rotten fruits. Not to forget the ship held us hostage for 4/5 + hours claiming that us was unsafe conditions but the night prior to docking we was literally where we needed to be and definitely could of got there for the scheduled time but instead during stable weather conditions the boat was riding around a circle wasting time. This was a waste of time and money reconsider.

Pay all this money for a terrible experience 

Our family held its reunion on the ship and never had we experienced such racist behavior from staff and other quests.

At dinner our server did what he wanted disregarding our simple request like a taller glass to drink out of. The requests had to be asked several times before being fulfilled. The customer service reps seemed to be annoyed when you asked for help. The servers in the Windjammer seemed in a dazed as if they were robots. One quest loudly complained because we all sat together. Instead of explaining we were a family and it's open seating, the manager allowed him to display his open racism. They disregard our dietary requests although they were made before the trip. Even at dinner when reiterated the servr had the audacity to say "whatever". Again it was the longest 11 day ever unpleasant.  I pray that no one else has to experience such disgust. Oh let's not mention how the other quests left plates anywhere, stairs, under stairs, piled by their room. It's like they had no home training. They could call room service to pick it up the way it was delivered. It was madness.

THE LONGEST 11 DAYS EVER

I have cruised with RC a few times, and this was the worst.  The ship was old, and it smelled old.  The elevators worked but if you looked at the screen instead of listening to the voice you would exit on the wrong floor.  Sometimes the light for the floor you pushed would go off and the elevator would bypass your floor. The elevators were hot as if the heat was on inside.  The carpets were old and stained; the stains would remain no matter how often they cleaned them.  It is a small ship and the waves were felt at every sailing.  I felt and heard the creaks, groans, motors, chains, and everything else from the ship in my cabin.  It was an iron symphony every night and was hard to sleep well.  I understand that it is the holiday season, but must we be bombarded with Christmas music 24/7? Is there no relief and accommodation for those who may not believe or celebrate? Could there not be a mixture of music with a holiday song added in? That is not being culturally diverse, RC.  Please do better. 

On this cruise, we were met with NOSY and RUDE passengers.  Why is it that when a large group of so-called BLACK passengers sail together EVERYONE wants to know the "5 W's" (Who, What, When, Where, Why) as if we can't make it happen? As if to ask "How is that even possible?"  At every area, they ogled and stared.  In the elevators, they questioned "Were we all related?"  Not one time did I ever ask white people if they were related. Not once did I ask an Asian family how many were in their group. Never did I/we try to break the line of a group of people because I/we didn't want to wait behind them. But it happened to us. At one point a woman called one of our brothers a "Big Black Monkey!"  Imagine that!!!  We engaged those who engaged with us.  We talked to those that talked to us.  We didn't question anyone's children... as they did ours.  We came as a group... not to make friends with the passengers. If it happened fine, but it's not a requirement. 

The staff was lukewarm.  They didn't seem to care about anything.  They spoke when spoken to, but it was not warm and welcoming.  In the Windjammer, they left us guessing and had to inquire with the staff about the ingredients of certain foods.  Some were labeled and others were not.  Our group asked for certain accommodations which were granted once, but not the second time. Although another party was granted the same accommodations on the same two occasions as ours.  The staff asked our family to hurry up, eat, and leave the Windjammer.  They accused us of "congregating" in the dining room.  Once while in line, a young child in our party was waiting for fresh french fries to be brought to the warming table.  In the meantime, she was emptying the previous pan of the last remaining fries (10 at most and mostly broken short ones). A woman in the line blurted out that she was taking all of the fries.  Another man told her she was lying because there were no fries in the pan. Also, from the first time dined in the Windjammer, everyone carried food out and no one said a word. Later in the cruise, they started to tell US that we could no longer carry food out, as we watched OTHERS carry food and drink out of the very same dining room.  When we inquired we were told OUR PARTY could not take the food out... again as we watched others walking out with food.  Instances like this where certain preferences were given to some and not others are what we encountered from the first day. 

In the Gatsby, the food was average. The best dinner was the last one where the Braised Lamb was delicious. Our waiter was friendly and pleasant.  

One bright spot was our room attendant Idewa. He took care of us very well and no request was too much. Another bright spot was the entertainment. Raneil at the Schooner Bar and Pavy and the Boogie Boys were great!  I wish them much success. 

Not treated royally this time Royal Caribbean.

Nosy and Rude Passengers and Staff

The ship is old and shows signs of its age throughout the cruise. I paid way too much for the internet package to continue to stay in contact with family… To my surprise you have to be standing directly in front of guest services to receive a strong signal. When you go to the desk for any service solutions you can expect to get the run around of what can’t be done for you. The food is something most Royal Caribbean ships are known for firstly the windjammer. The food was that of cafeteria style and quality. On the last day of the cruise the ship slowed down to almost floating to get behind a storm in the port of Miami. Knowing this the staff should have kept the passengers informed that way travel plans could have been arranged. This was the opposite of what happened… The staff waited almost eight (8) hours to make solid plans for the passengers. By this time there was complete anarchy on the gangway deck. People stood in line for hours waiting for the status announcements. The ship then offers everyone free WiFi further exacerbating a horrible signal strength. Those that paid were not offered any type of compensation for their troubles. Some of the staff members were rude or dismissive with dealing with this horrible experience.

This was truly a nightmare of a cruise and it will be a long time before I use Royal Caribbean again to travel.
