Trip of a Lifetime

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

twototravel
6-10 Cruises • Age 60s

Our cruise only had about 300 passengers. The entire crew was fantastic! The expedition crew ensured we had as many outings as possible, and our several days we had landings and zodiac cruises. We had terrific weather up until the last landing. They issue boots and you get a complimentary jacket. Hiking poles in different heights are also provided. Food was delicious in the Aune restaurant and ...

Perfect Antarctica Cruise

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

2-5 Cruises • Age 60s

We wanted a different experience and we got it ! Vessel completely fulfilled our expectations, from the accommodation, food and safety on board to the pre and post cruise arrangements. Hurtigruten did well in organising our flights and hotel accommodation in Buenos Aires before and after the Cruise. Nothing much to say about Antartica, this is a whole new and different planet, nature ...

Antarctica is a must, but Hurtigruten was a bust

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

Leo Hobbit
2-5 Cruises • Age 30s

My Mum and I choose this cruise to celebrate her 60th Birthday. We choose Hurtigruten because of their long experience in polar sailing and because of their science program. Antarctica itself was a magical experience but we left regretting our choice of cruise line. Hurtigruten markets itself as luxury for a reasonable price, but make no mistake- they are a budget cruise line with a budget product ...

Fantastic weather and loads of wildlife

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Roald Amundsen

yorkshire born sailor
10+ Cruises • Age 60s

About us: couple in mid 60's well travelled not always on cruise ships. We have no loyalty to any cruise line and our sole driver is destination, mainly wildlife and scenery. Since visiting a travel show around 4 years ago Antarctica was on our bucket list. Eventually chose Hurtigruten and Roald Amundsen as we thought the price was reasonable and it included the Falklands. Booked as a package ...

Perfect cruise to Antarctica

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Fram

Tasmanian Deb
First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

We have just completed the 22 day Antarctic tour. What a remarkable experience!Antarctica is like another planet . South Georgia is like a David Attenborough feature. The ship is magnificently designed and styled. The 155 guests were royally cared for by a warm and attentive crew. Landings, snowshoeing , kayaking and zodiac cruises were frequent and supported by 15 expedition leaders who provided ...

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Nordlys

Lea Di
First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

We sailed on the Nordlys from Bergen to Kirkenes northbound for 6 nights. We had booked an outside cabin midships Deck 6 with a slightly obstructed view by life rafts so that we didn't have anyone walking past as you would on Deck 5. A couple of days before sailing we were contacted by the Ships Tour guides and offered a suite as an upgrade for a much reduced rate - which we decided to take up. ...

Nordlys - Platinum Upgrade

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordlys

Debra 1960
6-10 Cruises • Age 60s

we chose to travel on Hurtigruten Bergen-Kirkenes-Bergen because many years ago my in laws did the same trip and said it was the best trip they had ever done, and if we ever found ourselves in Norway we should do it too! Well, we found ourselves in Norway.... Firstly it is not a cruise in any sense, but a working ferry. Do your research before you book. Our cabin was fine - but basic - the ...

A nice ship, an interesting area but massively over-promised on wild-life sightings

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Roald Amundsen

rwsuth
2-5 Cruises • Age 70s

Having been on three previous Hurtigruten cruises we know that the ship size (small), the provision of interesting lectures instead of Abba tribute bands or similar and the unusual itineraries would suit our interests. After flying to Vancouver for one night the plan was then to be flown to Nome in Alaska and cruise down the Bering Sea and then along the Aleutian Islands and the Inside Passage ...

Beautiful old ship

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Nordstjernen

Steve Scharms
2-5 Cruises • Age 50s

We just sailed our 3rd cruise. This was more up our street so to speak as it was in the High Arctic. MS Nordstjernen was a lovely old ship. We had a cabin towards the aft of the ship no window but private bathroom, wardrobe and plenty of space to what we were expecting. This trip was about the surroundings of where you were sailing and not about Comfort of large entertainment complexes ...

Fantastic Iceland

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Fridtjof Nansen

AngieKP
10+ Cruises • Age 60s

We have travelled with Hurtigruten before (MS Spitsbergen Norwegian coast) but this was sooo much better. We boarded in Reykjavik and it was a little chaotic - a free for all. We were in an Expedition Suite (ME class) which was lovely. Bed was very comfortable, as were the chairs. There was a minibar fridge which was stocked with soft drinks and beers, 4 bottles of wine and jars of nuts. These ...
