Sail Date: Mar 2023

The departure from NYC was convenient and went well. Having sailed several times with Norwegian we were quickly disappointed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Cup rings and greasy spots on furniture and bad smelling old bedding. Not a good start coming out of a pandemic. The staff was professional but seemed to have a lack luster attitude. Rooms are no longer serviced for turn down since the pandemic. We really missed that special treatment and since additional service fees were added it was odd to get less service. The food in the Buffet was absolutely horrible and the constant search for a seat and table thru out the trip was exhausting. The ship is too small to support capacity crowds. We never had an opportunity to get a chair at the pool and even at bars during peak times. It was a constant pursuit for seating thru out the trip. We had bad weather and on that ship at capacity it was horrible being stuck inside at sea for days. The shows were scaled down and the costs on this trip all were significantly higher. We have definitely put a pause on cruises with Norwegian and very disappointed about that. I definitely do not recommend the " tired paint peeling Gem" !

Tortola

Skip the excursion offered on the ship and take a taxi to the Devils Bay. Much less expensive and you wont be stuck in a large crowd to experience the beauty of the area. You can totally do it on your own safely and easy access.
