My husband and I took this cruise to celebrate our Honeymoon! It was my second cruise with Carnival and his first cruise ever. We both loved the ship itself with its beautiful interior accents in common areas and within our stateroom. We booked an Ocean View stateroom and enjoyed the views all week long! Our stewards drew on our mirror wishing us a happy honeymoon and made us all kinds of towel animals, which we collected in our window throughout the week. While we did sail during the spring break time of year, the ship didn't feel too packed at any time. The entertainment was great, we never waited too long for food at any restaurant, and there was always something to do! We spent a lot of time hanging out on the lido deck and getting ice cream at Guy's Pig and Anchor Brewhouse. We highly recommend this ship!
Our cabin was on floor 4 midship. We like it quite well and really enjoyed how close to the gangway were were for our days at port! It was quiet despite being surrounded by families with young kids. The only thing we didn't like well was the waves splashing our window when the seas was rough.
In Amber Cove, we chose to do the Classic Cars Tour in Puerto Plata. We really enjoyed sightseeing and riding around in a 1960 Thunderbird with our driver Franklin. We took a walking tour, enjoyed Pina coladas, toured an Amber Museum and a Rum Factory. We really enjoyed this excursion! However, we likely wouldn't do it again due to the tours being on the less tourist-y side of the Dominican. We'll likely stay on the resort side next time we visit.
Our favorite feature of the San Juan port was how walkable it was! We enjoyed walking the streets and peeking inside the little shops. We visited the best pizza place called Pizza Pirate and also got gelato from a place called X. The only thing we weren't fond of was how dirty the city was. Other than that it was great!
St. Thomas was beautiful! We booked an excursion to go to St. John to Trunk Bay Beach inside the US Virgin Islands National Park while we were docked there. We also booked tickets for the Skyride to Paradise Point at the top of the island. While the island itself was gorgeous, the excursions were awful. The Skyride was rickety and honestly terrifying. The best part of it was the little bar at the top, which had wifi! We had to take a ferry to St. John and that ride was about 45 minutes of seasick and sunburn. After the sickening ferry ride, we hopped on a jungle truck up and down the hills to the beach, which was another 30 minutes or so. By the time we got to the beach, we had 45 minutes to swim/snorkel and then had to get back on the jungle truck to travel 30 minutes back to the ferry and that was followed by another horrible 45 minute ferry ride back to the cruise port in St. Thomas.
If we ever go back to St. Thomas, we will most likely either stay on the ship or book an excursion on St. Thomas that we can hopefully walk to!
