We took a quick 3 day get-away weekend Cruise for fun and to try out MSC.

We read bad things about the food, it was good actually. The ship layout is not what you would see on Americain cruise lines. No quick serve areas like on Carnival with Shaqs or Royal with Sorrentos. It's all in the buffet. But they keep the buffet open late nights until 2am for things like pizza, nachos, pasta, sandwiches and a few deserts. It kind of reminds me of the old mid-night buffets! Buffet had good vareity and was on par with Royal as far as quality and selection. The difference is that it was huge with plenty of seating and multiple food stations. Main dining is in several smaller restaurants/dinning rooms with assigned times unless you pay for anytime as part of thier higher tier room/cruise packages. Service was good, but a bit slow see the same issue on RC post covid BTW. Food was good, portions a little small for americans but normal size for europeans. Over all I would give food a B+. Good for a non-luxury cruise brand. you want super high end food, go Holland, Celebrity or Princess.

Elevators were a disaster. They have 2 main banks of 8 each bank and one in the back of two. They are small, get hot, and use that new on demand system. During busy times like day one or dinner time, it could take up to a half an hour to get one and it could be full. If you are un-able to do stairs, it could be a issue. They neded to designate a handicapped elevator, or give a pass key to the handicaped. Rooms were a bit smaller than like rooms on RC or Carnival, but you get what you pay for. We had a balcony, it was good enough for 2, no way for 3 even if the 3rd was a small child. Rooms get a C, Elevators a D.

Cabin Review

Smallish but functional. Bath tub was good but bathroom was tiny. Shower had good pressure. we did a 3 day, so not much clothes to store, had it been a 7 day, we definately would have needed more storage and a bigger room. Bacoony was normal size and fine.

Cigerette smoke wafted up from lower smoking areas mid-ship when docked or when wind blew it up. we were on the odd room side mid-ship - we do like to keep our deck door open.
