We picked this cruise because of the ports that were initially offered. We chose this itinerary because of the ports it was going to. After booking it, the itinerary changed twice. Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos, which was canceled. The second change was the itinerary direction, and the time in port was shortened after we had paid in full. Very disappointing. The one port we wanted to go to was San Juan, Puerto Rico, which we did get to. It was a great experience. I will review the ports below.
We chose a balcony room. It was pretty small, but it worked for two sisters to share. The joining room was a little crowded for a couple with a lot of luggage. LOL
The joining room was nice for keeping up with each other's day plans and getting together for dinner. Over all, the cruise was nice but lacked much to do.
Wanted a balcony with other rooms surrounding our room. We also have a joining room being there were four adult family members.
Great Stirrup Cay, the NCL private island, was nice, but the water was full of seaweed. DON'T follow the crowd! If you turn left and walk a little way, there are many more chairs, and the water is much cleaner.
Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, was disappointing. Stay in the village where the ship docks and enjoy the man-made water park with a Lazy River ride, and it is all free.
San Juan, Puerto Rico, we booked a private tour through "Tours by Locals" with Hector Alvarez. Very informative tour. This was one of the port times that was changed. Arrived later and left earlier. So our tour was cut short.
Phillipsburg, St Maarten, we rented a car from Coastal Rental. Be careful where you go to rent from. We started with another rental, but all his vehicles were not nice and didn't have AC. Then drive to Maho Beach and drive around the island. This was one of the better port days.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Island We took a tour with NCL, Drake Seat, Magens Bay & Sky ride-in. It was ok; I would not recommend it if you can't walk a lot. The bus leaves you at the Sky ride, and you must walk back to the ship, which we were not told beforehand.
