Cabin: Concierge Class Stateroom with Veranda

We chose Celebrity Edge because we had cruised Celebrity before and this was Edge's first time to Australia. We were in awe of this amazing ship from the moment we set eyes on her. Embarkation in Sydney was quite straight forward and we were on board in less than 30 minutes. Many of the comments made previously did not apply on this occasion. for instance, gratuities were included in our fare, the entertainment was really good, something different every night and each night was top class.

We were travelling Concierge and had an Infinite Verandah stateroom deck 11 Midship. Our stateroom was presented beautifully, had plenty of storage and the king size bed was really comfortable. Prior to entering our stateroom I wasn't too sure about the infinite verandah against the regular balcony but now rather like it as it does make the stateroom more spacious, the blockout blind does a great job of providing privacy when docked. When at sea the window can be left open or closed as you wish.

We had the choice of four dining rooms. Normandy, Cyprus, Tuscan and Cosmopolitan. We had booked into Normandy and Tuscan for the first six nights but after the fantastic reception and service we got in Normandy the first night we opted to dine there for the rest of the cruise. Our wait staff offered to provide us with menus from the other dining rooms as we wished and their service over the entire cruise was first class. There was ample variety offered when it came to what was on the menus, especially when we could choose from four.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class Stateroom with Veranda

Our C1 cabin was presented beautifully, from the King size bed to the incredible amount of storage space. Room under the bed for our bags after we had unpacked and cupboard space everywhere you looked. Plenty of drawer space opposite the sofa and four smaller drawers in the wardrobe. The bathroom was well laid out and the Grohe showerhead was the best. Towels were very luxurious.

Port Reviews

Auckland

We were invited to share this cruise with friends we met 5 years ago on Celebrity Solstice during our first cruise to New Zealand. We had stayed in Auckland for a few days after that previous cruise. This time we were having one and a half days here so on the day of arrival we just went ashore to do a little shopping and have a look around the CBD area. On day two the four of us had booked a visit to the Auckland War Museum so we had early tickets to go ashore. The War Museum is a must do if you have time when in Auckland. *** Be wary with cabs in Auckland, they are unregulated so can charge you whatever they want. For example, our cab from the cruise terminal to the museum cost us $28NZ, the fare on the return journey - same route was $64NZ***

Tauranga

Tauranga has a lot to offer. Previously we had done an excursion through Celebrity which took us to TePuia, the Geothermal park in Rotorua so this time we were looking for something different. We chose another Celebrity excursion, this time a visit to a Kiwi fruit farm. The excursion was quite interesting, the orchard owner being an expert in this area. We wrapped up the excursion with morning tea provided by this gentleman's family and friends in the community hall where we were offered tea and coffee to have with scones served with lashings of kiwifruit conserve and cream. There were also various kiwifruit based products and other souvenirs.
