I planned a sightseeing trip to Singapore and wanted to include a relaxing cruise on a RCCL ship while I was there. This was a four night cruise to nowhere.
As a solo traveller, I stayed in an inside cabin on deck 11. The cabin was spacious and included a king size bed and a lounge suite. The bathroom was adequate and it included a glass shower screen, not a curtain. This is a nice feature of RCCL ships, in my experience. The safe in the room is big enough to store passports and wallets, but too small to hold even an iPad.
The buffet food in the Windjammer cafe was unusual and possibly suited mainly to Asian tastes which, I suppose, is to be expected given the departure port.
My cabin was an inside cabin on deck 11. It was spacious and included a king size bed and a lounge suite. The bathroom was adequate and it included a glass shower screen. There is plenty of cupboard space and drawers. The safe in the room is big enough to store passports and wallets, but too small to hold even an iPad. There is a kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Also, two small bottles of water were in the room on day one.
The cabin attendant was very polite and effective. He learned my name immediately and addressed me by name whenever we passed in the corridor.
The bed was very comfortable with a warm doona. The air conditioning in the cabin was effective and easy to adjust to my preferred temperature.
Singapore is a great destination for a short holiday. The metro rail system is extensive and very easy to make your way around the city.
I took a taxi from my hotel to the cruise terminal. It cost around $35 (Singapore $) from the Orchard Road area. A cheaper option is to get the MRT metro train, which takes you to within a few hundred metres walk of the terminal and many passengers chose that option. The walkway is covered for most of its length.
A one day EZY-Link bus and rail pass costs $20 (Singapore). A two day pass costs $26 and three days costs $30. If you return the card to a MRT ticket office within 5 days of its expiry you will get a $10 refund on each pass.
