Traveled with children

We traveled on Icon two adults and two children ages 8 and 6 and had an amazing time. The staff were all beyond friendly. You could tell they had to work their way up to this ship. We were not a huge fan of the Adventure Ocean programs which, at least for our children's ages, never left the club. So, if you dropped your kids off during the day they essentially sat inside and played on a Nintendo Switch. They could do that at home for far less money. However, the shows, dining, pools and other programs were amazing and kept the children entertained. Of note, you had to be 48in to really do most of the large water slides and the kids slide at Surfside would not keep a 6-year old engaged. Basketball court was spacious and they included all ages and skill levels. Both kids also were able to climb the rock wall. Neither were tall enough for Flow Rider but the wife loved it. I did not do the slides but was told by my wife and kids they were fantastic.

The shows were awesome. No the Aqua Dome show is not fully installed but what was presented had the kids chanting "Amazing." You could tell the potential is there to go far beyond the outdoor Oasis venue. Olympic divers make a great touch. The Ice show Starburst was breathtaking and the kids also enjoyed the afternoon fairy tale show. Great skaters. The Wizard of Oz was flawless. Amazing digital sets, flying, wind effects, etc. it was a site. We met the cast one night at dinner and they were genuinely interested in our thoughts and reviews and how the presentation of the show was for all ages. They even went as far as to inquire what they could improve.

Dining was great. We did the unlimited package and would not cruise without it again. Basically every meal was at a specialty restaurant. Did not disappoint. We were given extras of everything. Order lobster tail and scallops at hibachi you got an extra fillet. All the servers were fantastic. The real surprise was Pier 7. We found many officers and entertainment staff ate there. It was excellent. Seafood soup stole the show. Carmel waffle desert or banana split. You cannot go wrong.

Cabin Review

Central Park View Balcony

F-1 Central Park View Balcony Stateroom was fantastic. This is a traditional balcony stateroom right under the pool deck. It can accommodate 4 people and everyone was comfortable. We did not hear any noise and with it being a traditional balcony adults could go sit outside and listen to the music in Central Park while the kids relaxed or slept in the room. The separate spaces blocked the noise between them well. Unlike others have said we did have morning and evening room service and the couch bed was pulled out every evening and pushed in every morning. Towels were replenished etc. The location was very close to an elevator bank and perfectly mid ship above central park. The Windjammer, pools and hot tubs were a mere one deck of stairs up. Nothing was too far away and if you forgot something in the room you could get back quickly from anywhere. I could see my family in the room from the hot tub a real plus. Already booked a return trip in the same cabin.
