It has been a lifelong dream to visit Antartica. We studied many other cruise lines for this experience and decided on Scenic as for the money it was the best value overall. This was our first luxury cruise and we really enjoyed the all inclusive approach to cruising.
This ship is more of an expedition yacht and designed for a small group experience (200 or less). This made for a more relaxed experience where there was virtually no crowding or waiting for anything. The staff were all extremely professional and friendly. The accomplished captain and crew were able to navigate the ship into some extraordinary places for us to visit.
Our expedition leaders were extremely knowledgeable and safely guided us ashore where we could experience this unique continent and view the incredible, indigenous animal life. Polar jackets were provided for us to wear and keep. Also, boots were loaned to us for our use. I never felt uncomfortably cold during any of the excursions. Additional activities were also available - kayaking, paddle boarding at no additional cost. However, the helicopter and submarine experience did come with an additional cost.
Every cabin on this ship has a balcony and large windows. Each cabin from the basic to the suite was generously sized and roomy. We had plenty of storage spaces for our clothes and things. The bed and bedding was inviting and comfortable. We had a very large TV integrated into the wall. A channel was provided to view the location of the ship and where we sailed from. The bathroom was also roomy and we had a proper shower with shower door and plenty of hot water and excellent water pressure. Housekeeping did a tremendous job of keeping our room and bathroom clean.
