After sailing on RCL Odyssey of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas we noticed a definite decline in the quality of the food, the cabin service and certain alcohol selections. While RCL has diminished it's food quality in exchange for a "Quick Meal Menu" NCL"s food selections and actual preparation with attention to taste is far superior. RCL's cabin service has been cut down from daily to once a day, NCL continues to have twice a day service, a real stickler for me is the drink selections on RCL does not include Crown Royal, Reserve or VSOP. This is not the case on NCL. The biggest complaint on the NCL Escape is the lack of space in the common areas, the pool areas are stripped of all tables and chairs to make room for the recliner chairs on both levels, (the only tables available are just outside the buffet entrances) , the show lounge, comedy club and theatre are small, the bars were severely overcrowded. We were at 3900 people with 300 bodies from full capacity according to staff. They can sleep 4200 but I personally would not want to be on this ship at full capacity. Only during port days was there room to enjoy the pool area. Finally the entertainment quality on NCL Escape is well below what RCL offers. At night the entertainment on NCL Escape is additionally limited due to the lack of space, there are no reservations so you literally need to get there at least an hour before show time. In closing I have to say I was very impressed with the ship's decor, the wood grain trimming, chandeliers and the overall cleanliness, the size of the bathroom shower with a double sink was bigger Than RCL Wonder. If they reduced the capacity, this would be a great ship to vacay on.
Layout was great, largest shower thus far, better than RCL Wonder and Odyssey only miff was the lack of footstools and reclining chairs on the balcony.
