If you can arrive the day before embarkation, I recommend it. Charleston is a beautiful, fun city with great restaurants and sights. The actual embarkation process is wonky (see main review), but the tradeoff is that the smaller port makes for less traffic and is easy to navigate. ...

Excellent city to visit prior to your cruise but just as expensive as Miami, even the cost of parking! As described, embarkation is a horrible experience. I am so glad that I did not have a long travel time to get to this port too.
