Captain Cook Fiji Cruises Tips, Activities, and Overview

Who goes on Captain Cook Fiji cruise ships?

About 80 percent of Captain Cook Fiji's cruise passengers are from Australia and New Zealand, with a smattering of folks from North America and Europe. The cruise line attracts most age groups, including families, with the line's shorter sailings pulling in more people in their 20s and 30s, while the weeklong sailings typically have a demographic of around 50-plus.

Do I have to dress up on a Captain Cook Fiji cruise?

A little. Overall, casual summer clothing will be most appropriate during the day, but you will also need to bring something to cover your shoulders and knees during visits to local villages. Fijians dress modestly and revealing clothing is not permitted in public places.

In the evenings, the dress code is smart-casual attire with footwear required in the lounges and in the dining saloon. The captain's welcome dinner on the opening night is your chance to get glammed up, but only if you want to. You'll also need to wear a cover-up over your swimsuits or beach attire in public rooms and lounges aboard the vessel at any time of day.

Is everything free on Captain Cook Fiji cruises?

No. The cruise fare does include 24-hour coffee, tea and filtered water; Wi-Fi (where available); daily activities and water sports; access to the Captain's Kids Club; and use of the swimming pool, gym and sauna. Lectures from the resident marine biologist are also covered by the fare.

Extra charges include most beverages, spa treatments, PADI diving course and some optional tours.

What are Captain Cook Fiji’s most popular activities?

Captain Cook Fiji cruisers generally want either to have fun in the water or get to know the Fijian culture through authentic interactions. For those who are keen to get wet, popular activities include kayaking, stand-up paddle-boarding and snorkeling. On the cultural side, there are guided island tours, along with traditional village and school visits. The traditional tropical island lovo feast and kava ceremony are the most popular activities on any Captain Cook Fiji cruise.

Why go with Captain Cook Fiji?

  • Cruise to Fiji's remote islands on three- to 11-night itineraries.
  • Experience culture with village visits and friendly Fijian crew.
  • Cruise line supports local schools, with opportunities for passengers to give back.

Best for: Sun worshippers of all ages and anyone interested in Polynesian culture

Not for: Families with kids under 5

Quirky cruise in the Fiji Islands

Reef Endeavour is a small ship adapted for sailing amongst the tropical reefs and islands of Fiji in the South Pacific.Entertainment was basic with a pleasant resident musician and occasional presentations of Fijian cultural activities by crew and by school children at the villages visited - the Fijians have beautiful singing voices and incredible natural harmony.Read More

Disappointed because of the weather

The evening entertainment was a very good keyboard & guitar/singer, however it was a small audience after dinner, due to age I suspect.Probably would be a good idea to reserve some cruises for a younger age profile.Read More

Relaxing 4 days

The cabin is serviced like a hotel with a nightly "make up " room with goodnight chocolates It was so relaxing sitting on the bed and gazing into the wide expanse of the Murray River watching birdlife and activities along the banks The service is impeccable especially in the dining room, Meals served are up to par as any 4 or perhaps 5* hotel The lounge provides ample supply of beverages, biscuits and fresh fruits There is free wifi in the public areas and its quite high speed But we can do without the entertainment by the crew, It is far too amateurish, On the Captain's dinner night one lady passenger was allowed to speak a lot of "crap" Also not many actually bothered to dress up on that night The boat offers free laundry services. We were supposed to log in our time of use but no one respected this requirement.Read More
